Needwood Cricket Lovers' Society

Background

The Needwood Cricket Lovers' Society covers South-east Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North Warwickshire areas. The Society had just celebrated its twenty-first anniversary. It was formed in 1989 with 27 members it has now grown to nearly 100 members.

Apart from the annual dinner, all meetings are held in the evening (usually Wednesdays) at the Holland Sports Club, Barton-under-Needwood, four miles south of Burton-on-Trent. Members of the Society automatically become Associate members of the Holland Sports Club, which enables them to enjoy all the bar facilities on meeting days. The Derbyshire First XI coach and former wicket-keeper, Karl Krikken, is President of the Society.

Anyone interested can join either by contacting the Chairman or Secretary by phone or by turning up at one of the meetings, paying the subscription due and giving their name, address and telephone number. No other formalities are required. The annual subscription covers entry to all monthly meetings (apart from the Annual Dinner in March) and a Programme card at the beginning of the season (in September). Society ties are available for purchase by members at £8.00 each.
